Anyways this was my favorite topic...since it will be of no use posting my project here, so here are a few handy tips and storage ideas on Refrigerator :)
- A packed fridge, prevents air circulation. So don't over stuff it.
- Food should be stored (tightly wrapped) in refrigerator. Make sure the containers don't leak.
- Processed foods come with labels that specify storage rules - follow them diligently.
- Hot leftovers are better packed in small, shallow containers to fasten cooling. If foods cool too slowly, bacteria tends to grow faster. The faster the food freezes, the fresher it will taste..:)
- Try not to let cooked foods sit around at room temperature for more than two hours.
- For picnics or packed lunches, store food with cold packs. Keep lids shut and bags closed up
- Also store grate cheese, leftover pancakes and puffs in a resealable bags.
- Maintain a clean refrigerator and freezer. Wash with warm soap and water regularly.
- Once a week, check your refrigerator for food items that need to be thrown away.
- Cleaning Tips : To cut down odors, one can place a bowl containing baking soda and half a lemon in a corner of a rack OR use 2- 3 Tbsp of baking soda and lemon to clean the fridge, it not only removes odors but also removes stains and gives a sparkling shine to the refrigerator when wiped with a dry cloth finally.
- Keep the most perishable items in the topmost rack of the refrigerator (Ex. Milk, Juice etc).
- Place a newspaper in the veggies drawer so that it will absorb the excess moisture and keep them fresher for a longer period.
-- Refrigerator is an extension of our pantry, so keep it clean , use it properly and make your cooking more efficient and more enjoyable :)
